Ute, Ashleigh, Mandi, Aletta, Nadine, Jen, Claudine, Trudie, Lyndall, Delia, Pauline, Leigh, Caroline, Carol, Jacqui and Rowena welcome you to our new, exciting and educational Music and Movement Adventure.
Ute’s Personal Background
Growing up and living in Namibia all of my life I have identified the need for good pre-school experiences accessible to all young children. A child’s mind is most sensitive and predisposed to learning between the ages of 0 to 6. Early Childhood Education is the most important stepping stone to successful future schooling and learning.
In 1998 I studied to become a Montessori Pre-School Directress with London Montessori International in Dubai. I was then fortunate to be involved from 2001 to 2006 in setting up, running and successfully managing Yellow Brick Road Nursery in the Dubai United Arab Emirates.
Starting Small Beginnings Montessori Pre-School beginning of 2010 here in Johannesburg and also part time teaching an in-house Montessori Assistant Teachers course was my own dream come true.
Being able to include Wiggle & Jam Music and Movement helps us to add even more value to each child’s daily learning experiences.
The learning experiences we offer strive to be fun, inspiring, stimulating, informative and educational and the Wiggle & Jam Music & Movement Program is extremely well suited for this.
Our Wiggle & Jam Music Movement Program and Curriculum certainly ensures that all our children learn through play, learn while moving and having fun and at the same time being exposed to music, movement, rhythm and beat.
Working with children, knowing that they love and want to learn and through this making a difference in their lives, is what inspires us to do more on a daily basis. Children are our future, children are small only once and the positive influence we as adults have when they are young will help build their own unique character; form and shape their inner most being for the rest of their lives.

Having worked for 10 years in the corporate environment, I left to be a fulltime mum to my two children Brandon and Kirsten.
When my children were small, I attended various Mom and Baby programs like Moms and Babes, Moms and Tots and Kindermusik and even then I realised the importance of Music and Movement in our children’s lives. Working and being with children is my passion.
I joined Ute with her Music and Movement Program in September 2011 attending various Music and Movement and Brain Gym Training Workshops.
Together we then started Wiggle & Jam Music and Movement Program in October 2013. I believe in this program, l am very passionate about it and find it very rewarding. I love how the children grow and develop in front of my eyes, l definitely have the best profession in the world and l love how we make lasting memories together.

I started performing from a very young age, did my Grade 8 UNISA exam in piano and went on to study Music at the Pretoria Technicon. I received my National Diploma in Light music in 1999. I specialize in piano and singing, but play several other instruments such as Flute, Guitar, Drums and keyboard.
I performed mainly as a solo artist in South Africa as well as internationally for many years, working with different bands ocassionally. After this I started teaching piano and singing to students of various ages and I have been a senior adjudicator for the National Eistedfodd for the last 6 years.
I have four little ones of my own now and I love to see the amazing impact music and movement has on their development, and truly believe that every child should be given this opportunity and with the amazing Wiggle & Jam Music and Movement program, this will now be possible

In my youth my Mother ignited my creative side by introducing me to music, art and dance. Over the years I have worked in many different industries from corporate to beauty, but none of my endeavours made use of my natural creativity.
With the birth of my daughter 6 years ago, it reignited my creative side and also showed me the importance of all developmental skills in her life.
When the opportunity arose to join Ute’s wonderful Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement Team, I was very excited to be part of developing children through music, movement, rhythm and interactive fun.

I am a wife and mother and I love taking care of my family. My children are everything to me and I strive to give them everything they need and deserve. I love having fun with my girls or being witness to their enjoyment when they take part in something that they love.
Through my children, I have discovered the importance of music and its impact on little minds. Children love listening to music, dancing to music and most of all making music! It is as if a light switches on inside them and you can just see pure joy on their faces. Music is an integral part in raising well-balanced children, which is why I encourage my girls to sing in the choir and play in the Marimba Band!
I am so excited and truly look forward to seeing all “my” little Wiggle and Jam children’s faces light up and having lots of learning filled and musical fun with them.

I was born and raised in Durban where I received my Natal Colours for singing and dancing. In 2005 I represented South Africa in Germany in a singing competition.
I have taught and performed in the creative arts industry worldwide for many years and received many International awards for outstanding choreographic and singing work. I started performing at the tender age of 4 and started my professional career at age 14, performing in and around the KZN theatrical circuit. Since then I have been seen in many Musical Productions around Africa, including blockbusters such as the ‘Sound of Music’, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’and ‘Grease’. After travelling to Botswana with one such musical production, I made Botswana my home. Here I performed for the president, vice-president and cabinet of Botswana and in 2007 I was the supporting act for Freshly Ground. I spent many years being a well sought after singer all over the world.
Not only am I an accomplished singer, actress and choreographer, having studied extensively in all three disciplines but I completed my drama studies and AIDT dance teaching qualifications in Durban and I have an Advanced Diploma in Music as well as a Diploma in Guitar
I have been actively involved in children’s education, having produced, directed and choreographed many school productions. I was the principal of the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy in Botswana as well as owner of the ‘Jen Summers Dance and Music Academy’, also in Botswana.
Since my return to South Africa, I taught at Crawford College before starting a family, which had been my fulltime job for 3 years, before returning to my passion of working with children.

I began my journey with music and dance at the age of 3. Over the years, my love for music and dance has grown, and today I successfully own my own dancing studio, which has been running since 2004.
I am a qualified TDA and AIDT modern and hip-hop teacher and teach students of all ages;
to teach is one of the most rewarding careers.
Children bring such joy and light to our lives, and I am so privileged to work hand in hand with them every day. They help me think on my feet, imagine, laugh and best of all explore more about their worlds.
Being part of the amazing Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement Team, my goal is to inspire more children to learn about music, movement and dance, and the wonders they can bring.

I have been SADTA trained in modern, jazz and contemporary and have always loved the art of music and dance. I started my very own dance studio in Linbro Park, which I decided to close when I started a family of my own. Teaching dance as well as choreography has always been a highlight in my life.
I first fell in love with the Wiggle and Jam program when my own two children participated in classes at their preschool. From then I could see the positive influence in my children’s development; physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.
To be able to be part of this amazing team and this amazing program is a dream come true and marks my life with passion and purpose. To be able to be involved with the development of each of your precious children is a joy beyond words.

I was simply thrilled to be given the opportunity to become a Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement instructor this year! I come from a teaching background so to be able to teach little children from the ages of 2 – 6 seemed like a dream come true. I received my teaching degree in 2001 and taught at two different primary schools for 4 years. I loved it. I decided to swap my teaching of children to teach adults when I became a medical representative in 2005. I worked in the medical industry for the next 10 years, While I enjoyed this, children were and really are my passion.
In 2017 I decided to start my own holiday club, “My Happy Place” which runs during holiday times and we accommodate children from the age of 4 – 12.
I have 3 of my own children and they love the fact that I am now a Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement teacher. The Wiggle and Jam programme is stimulating, fun, learning filled and one of a kind; so much laughter is had with all the songs and different instruments.
Thank you for this opportunity allowing me to teach your children being part of their most important Early Learning Years.

I am a mother of two perfect little boys. I am a qualified swimming teacher and have been teaching in the pool for over 12 years, I also have the experience of teaching at a primary school as a foundation phase Phys Ed teacher as well as heading up the swimming department.
With this teaching experience I have found that I have a definite passion for teaching children of all ages. While attending my sons Wiggle and Jam end of year class, I was enthralled at all the smiles Jen was getting from the kids. I instantly fell in love with the concept of this music and movement programme. I knew I had to get involved. There is nothing more rewarding to me, than singing and dancing with children like no one is watching. One of the best qualities that Wiggle and Jam has, is kids are free to express themselves through music and movement.
I have now joined the team and can see how this programme builds confidence, inspires, teaches and energizes these special little souls.

Growing up I was always active and enjoyed many forms of sport and dancing. Today, Yoga plays an important role in my life and I practice whenever I can. I still enjoy many types of sports and like to stay active, especially outdoors!
I always knew my journey would eventually lead me to working with children.
What a privilege to do so as part of the Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement Team! I met Ute through my sister, who has Wiggle and Jam classes at her Montessori school. My sister also made me a very proud Aunty of two nieces and a nephew. All three of them have learnt and are still learning from Trudie at Wiggle and Jam and love it.
I’m so grateful I get to teach and spend time with children. It’s incredibly rewarding to be a part of a child’s early learning years, to see them learn and grow through music and movement especially, and in return, learn from them. They keep me young at heart and remind me how to be happy and present in each moment.
When I’m not teaching Children, I teach Yoga and Pilates to grown-ups, a little bit of wiggling and jamming with them too.

Our Cape Town Team
Among many things, I am mostly a mother, a wife, a teacher and a friend. I love hobbies, crafts, books, writing, music, travel, and doing yoga. I enjoy quality family time with my husband and son.
I have been a friend and a fan of Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement since the early days, having taught at Ute’s school, Small Beginnings Montessori for a few years and through being a lifelong friend of Ashleigh, both of these women are very inspirational people in my life.
I find immeasurable joy in spending time with children; I am deeply humbled by them.
Music has many benefits to mankind, above all it makes people happy, there is simply nothing quite like the magical happiness you will see in a ‘Wiggle and Jam’ session with a classroom full of lively children. I am grateful to be a part of this growing family.

Music was always of interest and enjoyment to me, when I was in Primary school I enjoyed learning to play the recorder. I studied and worked in the Engineering field, but after relocating back to Cape Town my dream was to start my own business and be a more involved parent to my 3 children. When I heard about Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement and all the benefits it presents to stimulate and develop children, I was keen to learn more and get involved. My passion for child development and love for music is my reason for joining this amazing Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement Team!

I truly love music and dance and have two amazing boys 20 and 16 years old following in my footsteps. My eldest loves dancing and my youngest plays bass, acoustic guitar and the keyboard.
Having worked 20 years in the clothing industry I made a choice to follow my passion to work with children. I have worked 7 years in Educare thoroughly enjoying seeing the growth and development of the children in my care. I have always had an absolute passion for getting down to the children’s level,
letting them have the most amazing fun while learning.
In 2019 an opportunity with Wiggle and Jam Music and Movement arose and I could not allow this opportunity to pass by as it’s an excellent opportunity to join an amazing programme that holistically nurtures children. I joined the team in May 2019 and can’t wait to experience the positive impact this programme already has with the children who are part of this family. I look forward to spending this very special fun and learning filled time with all your children.
